For the first time ever I have available some of my organically grown DYE SEEDS for you to grow your own Dye garden!
No seeds to WA or TAS unfortunately!
Madder / Rubia tinctorum:
Sow direct in Spring. Germination approximately 14 days. Position: Full to part sun in well drained soil. Size: A messy vine to 100cm high and wide. Can trelllis if desired. Can harvest roots after 3 years. 10 seeds.
Weld / Reseda luteola
Sow into seed trays or direct onto soil surface (don’t cover) in Autumn or Spring. Keep moist until germination. Germinates in approximately 7-14 days. Position: Full to part sun in well drained soil. Size: 60-200cm high x 30-60cm wide. Harvest in second Summer. Approx 500 + seeds.
Dyers’s Chamomile / Anthemis tinctoria
Sow 2mm deep in SPring in trays or direct. Germination: approximately 14-28 days. Position: full to part sun in well drained soil. Size 50cm high x 30-40cm wide. Harvest flowers and leaves once large/mature. Approx 100+ seeds.
Black Hollyhock / Alcea rosea
Sow 6mm deep in late Summer and Autumn. Germination approximatelyl 10-14 days. Position: full sun in well drained soil. Size: 200cm high x 30cm wide. Usually grown as an annual or short-lived perennial. Fun for bundle dyeing, solar dyeing or smaller experimental projects. Aprrox 20 seeds.
